This thought occured to me as I was going to sleep the other day, (or trying too, lately I have been having insomnia), and I was thinking about school next year. I felt like I had mixed emotions, like a part of me wanted to go to school, meet new people, and get a new schedule. Another part of me didn’t want my summer to end…ever. I believe that the mind isn’t just our body controller. I think our mind is like many people with their own opinion, each saying something that contributes to our overall emotion, or opinion. Kind of like a senate of sorts. I also thought that if that there was only one “person” inside our heads, we would all be exactly alike, with an unchanging emotion. You ask, “Well, what if that so-called “person” was different every time?” If each of these “people” harbor only one emotion, or viewpoint, and there was only one “person” that makes up the mind, then sure people would be different, but every so often there would be people with the same emotion, or same opinion on something. With an idea of many voices, many emotions, and many ideas, people start to have different emotions, harbor many viewpoints at the same time. Not only do they display emotion differently than each other, but when there is a decision, they can choose to be in the middle.

Geordan’s Thoughts – A person is in control of his/her emotions and opinions, but the many voices that make up our mind contribute toward those emotions and opinions.

Hard to believe that just a week ago the King of Pop passed away, but a part of me doesn’t seem to register the fact that he is gone. I guess the thing that makes me feel this way are his songs. Michael may be dead, but he is forever immortallized through his music. Its amazing, how, when one puts enough effort, momentum into something, nothing, not even death can stop that momentum, and it is this momentum, that still makes me feel as if he is still alive, ready to show the world more of his music.

On another note, Michael Jackson’s music stays popular even with a bunch of newer artists contributing to the genre. His songs, such as Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat it, and my favorite, Smooth Criminal, (Which I am actually listening to as I type), are still modern despite the fact that they have quite a few years on them.

Anyways, the thought of Michael Jackson will live on in my heart forever, and when I listen to his music I will feel joyful knowing that he was alive during my generation, but also saddened that my children won’t be able to witness him while he was alive.

Geordan’s Thoughts – Michael Jackson may have died, but his legacy lives on through his music.

Today I was reading, a newspaper in a local library, and I noticed this article by Jacob Hoyer, titled “Pour your energy into living instead of avoiding death”. He talked about his adventure to Africa and stated that things move much slower over there, stating,”If someone says he will pick you up at 9 o’clock it actually means you will see him between 10 and 11″. He was also amased that the children had never seen a person of his color before. The main thing that caught my eye, though, was when Jacob noticed that men were selling coffins on the side of the street. Mr. Hoyer was also invited to a funeral in which village patriarch had passed away. Jacob goes on to say that death seems to be a commonplace in Africa, and how differently we would live if death was considered a part of life…

Geordan’s Thoughts – Life doesn’t just mean to live…it also means to die. Life is balanced in this aspect completing a cycle. Most people try to “run away” from death by making themselves look younger, diets, hair dyes, and injections. I feel that Jacob Hoyer’s article is very powerful in the aspect that one should just enjoy life and the many phases that one encounters.

Finally after roughly three months my family headed down to Ft Lauderdale for business meeting. Now I’m not much of a business person so instead I hung out with my friend Zach. Before this happened though I was intent on heading to the beach to work on a tan because Oviedo is slowly turning me whiter and whiter. Anyways my vacationing headquarters was the Courtyard Marriot that is jam packed with history for myself.

In the early years that I spent in Fort Lauderdale, my family never owned a pool, so hearing about the courtyard marriot hotel we hatched a plan. One night around 7:00 my father and I visited the hotel. Seeing that the pool gate was unlocked we slipped in and enjoyed the pool. This went on for months, also inviting friends on occasions to the “local” pool. One day though we found that the point of entry had been locked, thus ending anymore pool activities.

So I guess its ironic that the hotel that I…used for swimming activities would be the same hotel that I would eventualy stay at for the night. Well even though there was a bill attached to this adventure, it was worth it.

Nothing has changed, maybe my skin which is now an odd “Daylight Lightbulb White” color, same school, same teacher, same work, and same bland cafeteria food. Oh well, at least I know that there is only a half of the school year left. Hmmm, wonder if I’ll be having the same kind of coffee tomorrow too…

Geordans’ Thoughts – Life is a cycle, it starts, and it ends. It is up to us to make our time on this world meaningful.
